PixProtect main screen

Step 1 of 10

Receive and download PixProtect

After payment is confirmed, you will be redirected to the PixProtect download page or receive the installation link by email at your registered address, within 24 hours.

How to download

  1. Open the link provided after purchase or sent to your email.
  2. Download the PixProtect installation file (APK).
  3. Wait for the download to finish.
  4. Locate the file in the Downloads folder on your phone.
Important

Download PixProtect only from the official link provided after purchase.

Step 2 of 10

Check Google Play Protect

Why might Android show a warning?

PixProtect is an exclusive app, distributed directly by Fortis Aegis Advisory and not available on the Google Play Store.

Because it is installed from an APK file, Android may show security warnings or ask for additional authorizations.

This does not necessarily mean the app is malicious. Google Play Protect also scans apps distributed outside the official store.

How to check

  1. Open Google Play Store.
  2. Tap your profile picture.
  3. Go to Play Protect.
  4. Tap the gear icon to view the protection settings.
  5. Keep protection on and continue with the file you received through the official channel.
Attention

There is no need to uninstall or turn off Google Play Protect. If it detects a risk and blocks PixProtect, stop the installation and contact support to check the file.

Step 3 of 10

Install PixProtect

After downloading the app, follow these instructions:

  1. Open the folder Downloads.
  2. Locate the APK file you received.
  3. Tap the file to start the installation.
  4. If Android asks, allow installation from this browser or file manager.
  5. Tap Install.
  6. Wait for it to finish.
  7. Select Open to start PixProtect.
Important

After installation, we recommend removing the permission to install unknown apps from the source you used.

Step 4 of 10

Set up the PixProtect permissions

On first launch, PixProtect will show the screen PixProtect Permissions.

These permissions are required for the corresponding protection, monitoring and emergency features to work properly.

How to set up

  1. Open PixProtect.
  2. On the PixProtect Permissions screen, tap Set up all.
  3. Follow each request shown by Android.
  4. Read and authorize the required permissions.
  5. After granting each access, return to PixProtect to continue.
  6. Complete all the requested settings.

If you interrupt the procedure, you can resume it at:

What is each permission for?

Location and SMS

Allow getting the available location and sending emergency SMS messages to the registered contacts.

Accessibility

Allows recognizing the emergency PIN on the lock screen and helps block the protected apps.

Usage access

Helps PixProtect detect when a protected app is opened outside the protected folder.

Display over other apps

Allows showing a protection layer over apps that should not be accessed outside the PixProtect environment.

Unrestricted battery

Helps keep the protection features running in the background, reducing interruptions caused by Android's power saving.

Device administrator

Allows PixProtect to lock the phone screen in an emergency, when this action is set up.

This authorization is used for specific administrative functions. On its own, it does not grant permission to delete other apps.

Internet blocking (VPN)

Authorizes PixProtect to use its local VPN feature to block the internet connection of the protected apps.

Important

The Accessibility permission is sensitive, as it allows observing and interacting with elements of the device interface. Read the authorization shown by Android before turning it on.

Step 5 of 10

Create your protection passwords

PixProtect uses different passwords to separate normal access from emergency situations.

How to set up

  1. On the PixProtect home screen, tap PINs.
  2. Select Create master password.
  3. Enter a numeric password and save.
  4. Next, tap Create emergency PIN.
  5. Enter your master password to authorize the operation.
  6. Register the new emergency PIN.
  7. Confirm the setup.

Understand the passwords

Master password

Used to access and manage PixProtect's protected settings and to end emergency mode.

Keep this password in a safe place.

Emergency PIN

Used to trigger PixProtect's emergency mode.

When recognized on an enabled trigger, the app starts the emergency protocol and shows a fake screen.

Important rules

  • Each password must have at least 4 digits.
  • The master password and the emergency PIN must be different.
  • PixProtect passwords do not replace or change Android's native unlock password.

Step 6 of 10

Choose the protected apps

Now you can select the personal apps you want to protect.

How to set up

  1. On the home screen, tap Protected apps.
  2. Open the tab PixProtect.
  3. Turn on the switch next to each app you want to protect.
  4. If needed, use the option Show and release in emergency only for the apps that should remain available after the emergency PIN is triggered.
  5. Tap Done to save.

Set up the emergency triggers

After choosing your apps:

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Select Emergency triggers.
  3. Choose how you want the emergency PIN to be recognized.

The available options are:

  • Emergency PIN in the PixProtect folder: recognizes the PIN in the app's protection environment.
  • Emergency PIN on the lock screen: recognizes the PIN through the Accessibility feature.
  • Both: enables both triggers.
Important

Recognizing the PIN on the lock screen requires the Accessibility permission to be active. This feature does not change Android's native authentication mechanism.

Step 7 of 10

Set up the emergency contact

PixProtect lets you set up SMS alerts to be sent when the emergency protocol is triggered.

How to set up

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Select Set up SMS.
  3. Turn on the option Send SMS in emergency.
  4. In New contact, enter the phone number you want or tap Search contacts.
  5. Confirm the addition using your master password.
  6. Tap Send test SMS.
  7. Ask the registered contact to confirm they received the message.
Attention

The message "Sending test SMS..." means the sending was requested. It does not guarantee that the SMS was delivered by the carrier.

Real-time location sharing

If you want to share your location in real time, set up this feature separately through Google Maps, following the instructions shown on the PixProtect setup screen.

Recommendation

Register someone you trust and explain in advance what the emergency alerts mean.

Step 8 of 10

Set up the Isolated Area (PixProtect Extreme)

What is PixProtect Extreme?

PixProtect Extreme uses a separate Work Profile on Android.

This environment lets you install banking, financial and personal apps in an area independent of the phone's main profile.

Apps installed in this environment can be selected to be managed by the PixProtect Extreme protection features.

How to create the Isolated Area

  1. Open the app PixProtect.
  2. Go to Settings.
  3. Go to PixProtect Extreme.
  4. Tap Create Work profile.
  5. Follow the instructions shown by Android to create the Work Profile.
  6. If Android asks for a Google account, select the account you want to use.
  7. Wait for the Work area to be created and set up.
  8. Go back to the PixProtect settings.
  9. Check that the PixProtect Extreme status shows as Active.

Install the apps in the Work area

After creating the profile:

  1. Open the Work area in your phone's app list.
  2. Go to the Google Play Store inside this area, if available.
  3. Sign in with your Google account, if asked.
  4. Download the banking, financial and personal apps you want to protect.
  5. Open the installed apps and complete the logins and settings they need.
Important

Apps installed in the personal profile are not automatically copied to the Work area.

Select the apps in PixProtect Extreme

  1. Open PixProtect.
  2. Go to Protected apps.
  3. Select the tab PixProtect Extreme.
  4. Choose the apps installed in the Work Profile that you want to protect.
  5. Confirm the selection.

If PixProtect Extreme shows as Unavailable

  1. Check that the Work Profile is turned on in the Android settings.
  2. Return to PixProtect.
  3. Tap Try again.
  4. Wait for the status to update.

Setup is only complete when PixProtect Extreme shows the Active status and the apps you want are selected.

Step 9 of 10

Set up the data deletion options

PixProtect has emergency options that can request the deletion of apps and data from the Work Profile.

Attention

These features can cause permanent data loss. Read carefully before turning them on.

Option 1 — Delete the data of the selected Work apps

The option Also delete the data of the selected Work apps makes PixProtect request the following when the emergency PIN is triggered:

  • Clearing the data of the apps selected in the Work profile.
  • Uninstalling those apps.
  • Keeping the Work Profile, which will continue to exist.

This operation applies to the Work apps selected beforehand.

Option 2 — WIPE PIN

The WIPE PIN is a specific password to request the complete deletion of the Work Profile.

When used, the app requests the removal of the entire Work profile, including:

  • Apps installed in the profile.
  • Data stored in the profile.
  • Accounts set up in the profile.
  • Settings belonging to the profile.

How to set up the WIPE PIN

  1. On the PixProtect home screen, tap PINs.
  2. Select Create WIPE PIN.
  3. Confirm the operation using the master password.
  4. Register a WIPE PIN that is different from your other passwords.
  5. Go back to Settings.
  6. Turn on the option Enable WIPE PIN.
Important

The WIPE PIN must be different from the master password and the emergency PIN.

Attention

Do not use the WIPE PIN or data deletion to run tests.

These actions are irreversible when carried out successfully and can permanently remove apps, accounts and information stored in the Work Profile.

Step 10 of 10

Check that PixProtect is set up correctly

Before finishing, check all the items below.

Final security checklist

0 / 13

Important security guidelines.

PixProtect offers technological features to help protect apps, data and personal information.

How certain features work depends on the permissions granted, the Android version, the device manufacturer and the availability of the required services.

Location and SMS functions depend on connectivity conditions and the corresponding services.

Features that involve deleting data must be set up with care, as they can cause permanent loss of information.
